Adra L. Hoplite, 96, of Amanda, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2015 at Fairfield Medical Center. He was born May 25, 1919 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia and was the son of the late John and Mary (Newell) Hoplite. Adra was a member of Cedar Hill Calvary U.M. Church, a life long farmer and formerly employed by Amanda Grain and Dupler Feed and Grain in Carroll.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Gwendolene (Kull) Hoplite; daughters, Shirley (Jimmie) Smith and Elva (Jerry) Shasteen both of Amanda; grandchildren, Rodney (Shelli) Smith, Chris (Robin) Smith, Phil (Jennifer) Smith, Dawn (Dave) Steinberg, Dana Anderson and Mindy (Sean) Pickrell; nine great grandchildren and one great great grandson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda with Pastors Terry Borah and Connie Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Amanda Twp. Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
