Agnes Conrad

Agnes Lucille (Kern) Conrad, 98, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018.  She was born June 7, 1920 in Cedar Hill, near Amanda and was the daughter of the late Kirby Emmett  and Jennie Florence (Fosnaugh) Kern.
She was a graduate of Walnut Twp.High School and on March 19, 1939 married the love of her life,  Joseph Conrad at her parent’s home in Cedar Hill.  During the early years in their marriage, she moved around the U.S. with Joe who was a World War II Veteran.  They were married for 73 years before Joe’s death in May 24, 2012.  She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Lancaster, Order of the Eastern Star, Lancaster Old Car Club and the Olivedale Kitchen Band.  Over the years she worked at Anchor Hocking and Lazarus as a bookkeeper and operated Connie’s Beauty Shop in her home for many years.  She played the piano, loved music, dancing, playing cards/games, travel, and enjoyed making afghans for her family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by siblings, Jennie Margaret (J.  Donald) Hammitt, Coral Marie (Charles) Julian, Donald Emmett (Nancy) Kern, Sister-in-law Vera (Warrick) VanCleve; brother-in-law Parnell (Louise) Conrad.
Aunt Aggie and Uncle Joe did not have children, but were like second parents to their many nieces and nephews.  During their later years, Agnes and Joe were lovingly cared for by their nephew Donald Julian.  The family would like to thank Lanfair and the special caregivers, Maddie, Monica and Beau and Fairhope hospice for their compassionate care of Agnes.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda with Rev. Brian Jones officiating.  Burial will follow in Amanda Twp. Cemetery.  Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until time of service on Thursday.
