Anita M. VanGundy, 63, of Lancaster, passed away on June 13, 2017 at her residence. She was born September 28, 1953 in Lancaster to the late Orval and Mary (Kellenbarger) Gorby. Anita was a former member of St. Markâs Catholic Church, and was a Horse 4-H Advisor for over 15 years. She was a graduate of Lancaster High School and previously worked at Lowes for 15 years. Anitaâs flowerbeds and grandchildren were her sanctuary as a breast cancer survivor. She was loved by so many.
Anita is survived by her husband of 45 years, Ronald âJoeâ VanGundy; children, Teena (Tom) Garner of Rockbridge, Tom (Shelly) VanGundy and Ted (Nichole) VanGundy both of Lancaster; grandchildren, Mick, Lilly, Makya, Amanda, Echo, Nathan, Logan, Taylor and Joseph; as well as great grandchildren; siblings, Sue (Bernard) Sanderell, Steve (Paula) Gorby, Marcia (Tom) Hill, Bill (Bernadette) Gorby and Joe Gorby; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two grandsons, Colton VanGundy and Denim Altizer; and a sister, Linda Kay Disbennet.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, June 19, 2017 at the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda with Pastor Dan VanGundy officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Lancaster. Following the burial family and friends are invited to the AMVETS in Lancaster for a gathering. Friends may call Sunday from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
