Billy Hughes

Billy Hughes, age 93, of Lancaster, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Bickford of Lancaster. Billy was born in Macon County, AL to James and Bessie (Magar) Hughes Sr. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 11 years. He retired from the State of Ohio, Department of Corrections. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Lancaster for many years. Billy enjoyed woodworking and his family now has keepsakes made by him to cherish.

He is survived by his sons, Marvin (Dinah) Hughes, of Lancaster, Joe (Cathy) Hughes, of Junction City, Terry (Sherry) Hughes, of Florence, AL, and Tim Hughes, of Lancaster; grandchildren, Emma, Wade, Nicholas, Ryan, Jennifer and Jonathan; six great grandchildren; siblings, Mary Francis Allen, of Marietta, GA, James McKinley (Shirley) Hughes Jr., of Florence, AL, Carolyn Hughes, of Valley, AL, and Robert (Marie) Hughes, of Macon County, AL; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Bessie Hughes Sr.; his mother who raised him, Frances (Berry) Hughes; son, Vernard G. Hughes; grandson, Jamie Hughes; sister, Jean Cornwell.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, Amanda, with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Micah Hamilton officiating. Private interment will follow at Lutheran Cemetery, Lancaster.
