Charles LeRoy Newsome, 82, of Lancaster, OH passed away on January 28, 2026, at the VA Hospital in Chillicothe, OH surrounded by his family. He was born on September 13, 1943, in Springfield, OH to Fred and Lucille (Slagle) Newsome.
He was proceeded in death by his father and mother; brother, James Ronald Newsome; daughter, Tamra (Newsome) Bowling; son, Shane McGlone; and grandson, Brandon Newsome.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Victoria (Nye) Newsome. He is also survived by sons; Kevin (Lisa) Newsome, John Newsome, Nathaniel Newsome; daughters, Candace (Rick) Schwalbauch, Gabby (Bobby) Hastings, Brigitte (Daniel) McGlone and Shauna McGlone; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, that he loved dearly; and brother Doug Lightle.
He served in the Army where he was a Military Policeman. He was a man who had done just about everything from working at Dayton Tire and Rubber, Bauer Brothers in Springfield, OH to being a Sheriff Deputy, Car Salesman, a Minister who started Troy OH CCCU, he attended the Circleville Bible College, owner/ operator of a trucking business, Tow Truck Driver, and also had served as the mayor of Williamsport, OH. He enjoyed fishing with his dad, sons, and even sometimes his daughters. He was a great jokester, he knew how to make anyone laugh. Charles could also play any stringed instrument that was handed to him and he sung so beautifully. He was a man who was greatly loved by all who met him and will always be remembered by all who loved him.
The family will receive friends on Monday February 9, 2026 from 10am until 12pm at Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, 111 W. Main St, Amanda, OH 43102; Interment with military honors to follow at 2pm at Rose Hill Burial Park in Springfield, OH.
