Charles E. Wampler age 72 of Ray, passed away Monday, September 6, 2021 at Adena Hospital in Chillicothe. He was born June 4, 1949 in Columbus, son of the late Charles L. and Lavada (Osborn) Wampler. He was a graduate of Amanda High School, class of 1968 and then served in the Army during Vietnam where he served two tours and was a combat veteran. Charlie owned and operated the Speedy Mufflerman in Chillicothe for almost 30 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a Shriner and a Kentucky Colonel. Charlie loved riding his trike with his wife and his brother Ike and enjoyed bowling for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Angel; children, Trent (Mary) Wampler, of Richmondale and Amy (Craig) McDonnell, of Lancaster; step children, John Graves, and Solomon (Brittney) Graves, both of Ray; grandchildren, Kylie Wampler, and Evan and Jenna McDonnell; sister, Patti (Wampler) Davis of Lancaster; brother, Ike (Dianne) Wampler of Circleville; several nieces, nephews and best friend, Lisa Stiger, of Amanda. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Linda Carr.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, Amanda with Ike Wampler officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Franklin Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The funeral may also be viewed live at the funeral home's Facebook page.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Honor Flight of Columbus or the Patriot Guard in his honor.
