Daniel Wharton

Daniel C. "Danny" Wharton, age 76 of Amanda, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at his home in Amanda. He was born April 22, 1947, in Fairfield County, son of the late Buyrl and Anna (Moyer) Wharton. He was a graduate of Amanda Clearcreek High School, class of 1965. After graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force where he served until his retirement in 1990. Along with his military service, Danny worked at several places, including Amanda Clearcreek Schools where he retired from with 24 years of service. He loved cars and drag racing. He restored many classic cars throughout his adult life. Danny was baptized at the Laurelville Church of God where he attended as regularly as his health would allow.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn (Ream) Wharton; son, Franklin Wharton, of Amanda; granddaughter, Molly Kay (Seth) Wharton, of Columbus; several nieces and nephews; very special friend, James Mowery, of McArthur. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald and George Wharton; two nephews, Stuart and Terrance Wharton.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, Amanda with Pastor Steve Hayes officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Green Summit Cemetery, Adelphi. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
