David Spangler

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF SERVICE SCHEDULE  

   David A. Spangler, age 82 of Lancaster, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Fairfield Medical Center. He was born June 27, 1941, in Lancaster, to the late Charles and Florence (Winter) Spangler. He was a graduate of Amanda High School, class of 1959. He worked for and retired from Big Bear Stores in Lancaster, Circleville and at the corporate office for over 39 years. He then worked for Giant Eagle in Lancaster, retiring after more than 15 years of service. He was formerly a volunteer fireman in Amanda Township. Dave was a member of the Amanda Masonic Lodge #509 for over 50 years as well as the Faith Lutheran Church in Baltimore. Dave was a car enthusiast and loved his street rods.

   He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Penny; son, Kyle Lama, of Lancaster; grandchildren, Landen Lama, of Washington D.C. and Lauren Lama, of Charlotte, NC; former daughter in law, Angie Lama, of Lancaster; brother in law, Steve Wolfe, of Milwaukee, WI; several nieces, including a special niece, Amy (Ed) Sines, of Lancaster; great nephews, Aaron (Emma) and Evan Sines; several cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents.

    Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, Amanda with Pastor Mark Barbee officiating. Interment will follow at Amanda Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home where a Masonic service will be held at 7:45 p.m.
