December 8, 1930 — March 19, 2020

Eleanor K. “Mickey” Howard, age 89 of Lancaster and formerly of Pickerington, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Primrose of Lancaster. She was born December 8, 1930 in Buffalo, New York, daughter of the late Raymond and Eleanor (Godfrey) Hylkema. She was a graduate of Bennett High School in Buffalo, NY, class of 1948. After graduation, she married Gail Howard in 1950. Together, they raised their children in Buffalo and Springville, NY, then Phoenix, AZ. Retirement brought them to Pickerington where they enjoyed building their home and spending time with their grandchildren. Mickey loved to bake, sew and clean. Her laundry whites were her specialty. Her family always looked forward to Christmas breakfast and her twisty buns. Mickey was especially proud of the solid oak woodwork in their home that she finished with her own hands. She taught her children to be kind, respectful of others, truthful, and to “always do your best.”

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Gail; children, Dale M. (Kathy) Howard, of Somerset, NY, Eleanor N. (Ed) Buggie, of Pickerington and Jenny A. (Tom) Theller, of Lancaster; daughter-in-law, Cindy Howard, of St. Augustine, FL; grandchildren, Sarah and Daniel, Keith and Renee, Kyle and Katie, and Becky and Michael; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Rosemary (Robert) McConachie, of MI; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kevin A. Howard; brothers, Raymond and Thomas Hylkema; sisters, Joann Langer, Mary Ellen Damon, and Patricia Hulin.
