Gary H. Helser, 71, of Amanda, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014 at his residence. Gary was born June 8, 1942 in Somerset and was the son of the late Fred E. and Thelma Doris (Moyer) Helser. He was a 1961 graduate of Amanda Clearcreek High School and retired after 23 years of service as a heavy equipment operator for the Fairfield County Dept. of Engineers.
Gary is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sue (Evans) Helser; son, Brian (Kelly) Helser of Stoutsville; two granddaughters who he adored, Madeline Paige and Greta Claire Helser; brother, Fred L. (Ruth Ann) Helser of Columbus; brother-in-law, Jim (Vonda) Evans and sister-in-law, Shirley Evans both of Amanda; life long friends, Lynn and Jeanne Young and their family and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, a brother-in-law, Gary Evans preceded him in death.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family per Gary's wishes. Gary would have liked all to take a walk with a grandchild, watch and listen to the birds or take drive and enjoy the beauty of God's creation.
The family would like memorial contributions to be made to Foundation Dinners, 1000 W. 5th Ave., Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or Berger Hospice, 1280 N. Court St., Circleville, Ohio 43113 in Gary's memory.
