Gary L. Lama, age 74, of Lancaster, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at his home. He was born September 23, 1950, in Amanda, to the late Dorothy (Disbennett) Lama. Gary was a graduate of Amanda Clearcreek High School, class of 1969. He retired from Amanda Bent Bolt with 40 years of service. He loved rock music music, espcecially Queen and Ohio State football and basketball. He enjoyed watching Western shows, usually the black and white shows. He was a fan of NASCAR, specifically Dale Earnhardt Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pam (Thaxton) Lama; children, Melanie (Jason) Bennett, of Proctorville, Chad (Michelle) Lama, of Rushville, and Cassie Lama, of Lancaster; grandchildren, Kendra (Luke), Macie (Jacob), Matthew (Angel) and Taylor, Madison, Dawson, Jesse, Zoe, and Tristan, Alissa, Chelsey, and Preston; five great grandchildren and one on the way; brothers, Merrill, of Amanda and Harold (Rosemary), of Lancaster; sisters, Marcine and Carolyn, both of Lancaster; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother; brothers, William and Kenneth; mother and father in law, Damon and Dorothy Thaxton.
Cremation has been arranged in the care of Taylor-Theller Funeral & Cremation Service, Amanda. The family will announce a memorial service at a later date.
