Hazel M. Merritt

Hazel M. Merritt, 75, of Lancaster, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her family.  She was born May 22, 1938 in Lancaster and was the daughter of Ray and Vivian (Hummel) Hines.  Hazel worked at Lancaster Glass for over 31 years and she and her husband participated in 4 local farm markets for 14 years.  She was known for her pies and homemade noodles.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Randall Merritt Sr.; children, Randall Merritt Jr. of Lancaster and Melony (Jim) Stuteville of Lima; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren; brother, Bryan (Ann) Hines of Lancaster and special friends, Glenda Strosnider, Ruth Cramer, Pam Dickson and Judy Nye.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Merritt; daughter, Diane Hall and a sister, Marquita Shaeffer.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to mom's Hospice nurse Theresa, and to her daughter Melony for their loving care.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda with Pastor Dave Sherman officiating. Burial will follow in the Merritt Family Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
