Helen Louise Sharp

Helen Louise Sharp, 98, of Amanda, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2018 surrounded by her family.  She was born May 5, 1919 in Fairfield County and was the daughter of the late Albert Willis and Sarah Catherine (Congrove) Vanfossen.  Helen was an egg gatherer at the chicken farm in Oakland for many years.  She had made dolls and quilts that were shipped around the world, active in girl’s softball and made cheerleading uniforms from 1942 to 1956 for the Stoutsville Indians.
She is survived by four daughters, Alberta Davis of Circleville, Linda Hartley, Karen (Larry) Hoffman and Terrell (Dave) Edwards; daughter-in-law, Jackie Sharp all of Amanda; 21 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, many who called her grandma and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alford Vance Sharp; sons, John and Marvin Sharp; son-in-law, Bill Hartley; six brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda with Rev. Marilin Miller officiating.  Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Stoutsville.  Friends may call from 1-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
