Ila A. Smith, 79, of Lancaster, passed away Friday, Feb. 12, 2010 at the Pickering House. She was born Feb. 1, 1931 in Rushville and was the daughter of the late Ralph and Florence (Jeffries) Yingling. She was a life long member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lancaster.
She is survived by her husband, Richard N. Smith; children, Linda (Mike) Barrett of North Carolina, Greg (Linda) Smith of Florida, Jeff (Kelly) Smith of Virginia, Alexis (Larry) Murphy and Brian Smith both of North Carolina; step son, Steve Smith (Ronda Bogart) of Columbus; sister, Juanita (Robert) Bader of Baltimore and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Yingling Jr. and four sisters, Evelyn Williams, Gertrude Hildinger, Betty Shupe and Bernita Yingling.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5575 Cincinnati-Zanesville Rd., Lancaster, Ohio 43130 with Pastor Karen Martin Kepner officiating. Burial will follow at the Grace Lutheran Church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions be made to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ila's memory.
