Jace E. Spires, 36, of Lancaster, died saving his family as a result of a tragic house fire on Thursday, May 27, 2021. He was born December 28, 1984 the son of Joel Spires and Paula (Lutz) Spires. He was a 2003 graduate of Amanda Clearcreek High School and received an Associates Degree in Construction Management from Ohio State ATI. He was currently employed as a Maintenance worker in plant engineering at Fairfield Medical Center. Jace was a former member of Clearcreek Showmen 4-H club, FFA Treasurer and earned his State and American Farmer Degree. Jace was voted the most daring boy of the 2003 graduating class and during graduation he wanted to “Leave His Mark”. He succeeded with the knowledge that every graduating class to this day are checked to see if all graduates are wearing pants under their gown. He was the head coach of Amanda Clearcreek Biddy Wrestling and member of the Fairfield County Jr. Fair Swine Committee. An accomplished welder and wood craftsman, he loved making things for his family and friends. He recently found his passion for Jiu-Jitsu enjoying the companionship and sometimes “bruising” classes. He especially enjoyed camping every weekend with his family. Jace’s love for his family was always apparent and was the center of his life. His laugh and smile will be greatly missed.
Jace is survived by the love of his life, Ashley (Russell) Spires; daughter, Jaycie and son, Jaston; parents, Joel (Nannette) Spires of Stoutsville; mother, Paula Spires of Amanda; sister, Jenna (Mike) Mathews of Sparta, TN; sister, June (Anthony Wampler) Spires of Amanda; aunt, Barbara (John) Winland of Laurelville; father-in-law, Randy Russell and mother-in-law, Stephanie (Mike) Herron both of Baltimore; brother-in-law, Jake Russell of Pickerington; numerous cousins and many friends.
