James Forrest

James D. "Jim" Forrest, age 94, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Fairfield Medical Center. He was born October 6, 1928, in Lilly Chapel, Ohio to the late Cecil and Lydia (Bennett) Forrest. He was a graduate of West Jefferson High School, class of 1946. He retired from General Motors (Fisher Body) after 41 years and was a proud member of UAW Local 969. Jim was a dedicated and loving man who unwaveringly and tirelessly supported his family, and especially his wife of 70 years, Geraldine (Bower) Forrest, until she passed. He loved golfing and going to auctions, and especially loved getting a good deal. He enjoyed living on the farm and time spent in his garage, welding and fixing anything that needed repaired.

He is survived by his children, Dale (Penny) Forrest, of Lancaster and Jill (Michael Stafford) Forrest, of Colorado Springs, CO; three grandchildren, Alesha, Andrew, and Ivy; six great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Patty Forrest, of West Jefferson. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife; his son, Tom Forrest; his brothers, Bennett, Donald, and Bob Forrest; his sister, Mary Andrix; and two infant siblings.

At his request, there will be no formal services observed. Arrangements and cremation are in the care of Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, Amanda.
