James E. "Jim" Nixon, age 93, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at his home. He was born on June 9, 1932, in Junction City, to the late John and Gladys (Hill) Nixon. He was a graduate of Lancaster High School, class of 1950. After graduation, Jim served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. He was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge as well as the Wacco Club. He retired from Anchor Hocking as a draftsman and then founded Lancaster Technical Design, alongside three of his work colleagues. Jim was a pilot who enjoyed time flying his Wacco Bi-Plane. He also loved riding motorcycles - from Indians to Harleys to Goldwings and back to Harleys. Jim was highly skilled at taking a simple project and making it very elaborate due to his perfectionism.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda Anderson, of Lancaster; grandchildren, Cameron (Ally) Anderson and Taylor Anderson; great grandchildren, Lakeleigh and Wyatt; niece, Sharon (Gary) Lucus and one nephew, David Carpenter; close friend, Rick Goodman, of Amanda. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce (Clark) Nixon; sisters, Margaret Carpenter and Ila Jean Nixon; brother-in-law, Wendell Carpenter.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, Amanda with Chaplain Sue Duve officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial contributions to Fairhope Hospice, 282 Sells Road, Lancaster, OH 43130.
Jim's family would like to extend their gratitude to his nurse, Chelsea and other caregivers, Amber and Dorothy.
