Jerry E. Blackston

Jerry E. Blackston, 69, of Lancaster, passed away Friday, September 26, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his family.  He was born October 13, 1944 and was the son of the late Charles E. And Anna Marie (Loring) Blackston.  Jerry was a 1962 graduate of Amanda Clearcreek High School, member of River Valley Rods, Lancaster Corvette Club and the Earth Angels Foundation and has won many trophies with his red 1999 Corvette.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce A. (Schwartz) Blackston and his beloved dog, Duke; daughter, Melissa (Steve) McCormick; step sons, Phillip (Maria) Reese and Randal J. Reese; grandchildren, David Ryan Schultz, Jennifer Marie Schultz, Nicholas William Schultz, Emily (Nicholas) Bailey, Derrick McCormick, Tyler Hogue, Danielle Hogue, Cody Robert Reese and Courtney Amanda Reese; great grandchildren, Bristol Marie Schultz, Sophia Bailey and Adalyn Bailey.
Jerry loved his family, his wife, his dog Duke and his red Corvette.  Car shows, old music and his car show buddies were his hobbies.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME in
Amanda.  Cremation will be handled with care following the service.  Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to The Earth Angels Foundation, The James Hospital and FairHope hospice in Jerry’s memory.  The family would also like to thank Dr. Troy Hampton and everyone at the James Hospital.
