Juliann “Julie” Smith, 65, of Canal Winchester, passed away at her residence peacefully on Monday, September 4, 2017. Julie was born September 20, 1951 in Lancaster to the late Raymond Thompson and Wilda (McBroom) Thompson who survives. She attended Mt. Carmel United Church of Christ in Clearport. Julie was an avid tennis player and Cincinnati Reds fan. She traveled around the country, the U.K. and Europe as a military spouse. She was a 1969 graduate of Amanda Clearcreek High School, and Ohio University with a B.S. in Education; Class of ‘73. Julie was a good cook and excellent baker. She loved playing board games with her grandchildren, and was the best wife anyone could hope for.
In addition to her mother, Julie is survived by her husband of 43 years, John S. Smith; daughter, Karen (Jeff) Morris; granddaughter, Kaylee Morris; grandson, Jackson Morris; sister, Christiann (Ron) Kalize; brother Edwin Thompson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda with Rev. Marilin Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Lithopolis Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
