Leota Harmon

March 22, 1943 — December 21, 2020

   Leota “Shorty” Harmon, age 77 of Lakeland, FL and formerly of Amanda, passed away Monday, December 21, 2020 at her home in Lakeland, FL. She was born March 22, 1943 in Fairfield County, daughter of the late Levi and Mabel (Polen) Harmon. She was a veteran of the US Navy and was a photographer. She worked for Kodak during her photography career and then in the civil service where she retired with over 30 years of service. Shorty enjoyed fishing, nature and serving the Lord. She loved playing games with her family like Spoons, card games and cribbage. Her favorite saying was “Live, Laugh and Love” which she did every day. She loved her family and friends very much.

   She is survived by her friend and companion, Denise Heidenreich, of Lakeland, FL; sisters, Roberta Underwood, of Lancaster, Sue Harmon, of Tennessee, and Cindy (Mark) Wetzel, of Amanda; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Donald, Dale, Carl, Eldon, Bobby and Bill Harmon.

   Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2020 at Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, Amanda. Interment with military honors will follow at Amanda Township Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home. The funeral may also be viewed live at the funeral home’s Facebook page. In accordance with State mandates, COVID Protocols including facial coverings and social distancing will be followed.

   In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
