Loyd M. Young, 81, of Amanda, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Monday, July 9, 2018. He was born September 6, 1936 in Amanda and was the son of the late Harold and Mona (Miller) Young. He was a 1954 graduate of Amanda High School and proudly served our nation in the U.S. Army. After leaving the Army, he went to General Motors school and went to work with his father and uncle at the Young Brothers Pontiac and Allis-Chalmers dealership in Amanda. Loyd was also a life long farmer in the Amanda area. He bowled in many leagues and was an avid card player. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Loyd loved to go camping and fishing between the Ohio River and Lake Erie.
He is survived by his children, Sheryl (Dave) Tatman of Brooksville, Florida, Michael Young of Williamstown, West Virginia and Mark (Marsha) Young of Lancaster; grandchildren, Kaylee (Will) Phillips, Kraig (Rebecca) Tatman, Brittany and Ashley Young, Carlie (Nolan) Flowers and Trevor Young; great grandchildren, Kolton and Lincoln Tatman; sister, Sally Dupler and Al Kauffman and a nephew, Jeff (Jody) Dupler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kitty and a daughter-in-law, Laura Young. He is also survived by many friends who loved and will miss him greatly.
A cremation has been handled with care by the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda. Friends may visit the family from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the funeral home. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Clearcreek Twp. or Amanda Twp. EMS in Loyd’s memory.
