Macel E. Roark, 83, life long resident of Royalton, passed away Monday, June 30, 2014 at her residence. She was born February 8, 1931 in Wilkesboro, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late Alex and Lona (Royal) Prevette. Macel was the former pastor at the United Pilgrim Church in Royalton. She loved quilting and crocheting for family and friends. She was an avid reader and liked to work crossword puzzles.
She is survived by a son, William (Donna) Roark of Royalton; daughters, Lynda (James) Price of Springfield, Christine (Louis) Graham of Somerset and Regina (Kent) Beachy of West Jefferson; daughter-in-law, Deborah Roark of Royalton; eight grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; brother, Robert (Bonnie) Prevette of Lancaster and several nieces and nephews. The family would also like to thank her hospice nurse Teresa Thimmes who took excellent care of Macel through her illness. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Roark; son, Harold Timothy Roark; brother, Wade Prevette and a sister, Eula Coffman.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME in Amanda with Rev. Joe Hurst officiating. Burial will follow in Amanda Twp. Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to service Thursday at the funeral home.
