Mary L. Swain, 94, of Amanda, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Main Street Terrace. She was born September 14, 1920 in Glenford and was the daughter of the late Carl and Daisy (Wells) Helser. Mary spent her life as a beautician and homemaker. She was a member of St. Jacobs Lutheran Church in Tarlton and a graduate of Glenford High School.
Mary is survived by her children, Sharon (William) Crothers of Wintergreen, VA, Ronald (Tessie) Swain of Lancaster and Randall (Dianna) Swain of Amanda; grandchildren, Jessica and Scott (Kat) Crothers, Sarah (Jeremy) Hoepf, Benjamin (Chelsea) Swain, Matthew (Lori) Swain, Bethany (Seth) Watts, Rebecca, Zachary and Leah Swain; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Mildred (Homer) Warrick of Newark and a brother-in-law, Jerry Radcliff of Indiana. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur E. Swain and sisters, Dorothy (Joe) Lucas, Lois (Wayne) Stockberger, Alice (Bill) Smith and Grace Radcliff.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda with Pastor Thomas Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery in Stoutsville. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until time of service on Monday.
