Mr. David Smith Hartman

David Smith Hartman, 77, of Amanda, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at the Pickering House in Lancaster. He was born May 22, 1933 in Circleville and was the son of the late Ralph E. and Mary (Smith) Hartman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Lowell Hartman and his first wife, Beverly (Scothorn) Hartman.
David is survived by his wife, Marjorie A. Hintz; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah L. Hintz (Wesley A. Smith) of Waverly; son and daughter-in-law, Matthew J. (Kimberly) Eggert of Ostrander; granddaughters, Isabel and Samantha Eggert; sister, Laura (Ralph) Strawser of Ashville; niece, Cyndi (Brian) Moore and nephew, Randy Strawser.
David was a farmer until he proudly served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea from 1957 to 1958. David then retired from Anchor Hocking Glass Corp. in August of 1989. David was a faithful lifelong member of Israel Lutheran Church (Dutch Hollow). He was an avid NASCAR and college sports fan, enjoyed his pets and watching the local wildlife.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the ISRAEL LUTHERAN CHURCH (Dutch Hollow) with Dr. George Fry officiating. Burial will be in Dutch Hollow Cemetery where military honors will be provided by AMVETS Post #2256, Circleville. Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Friday at the TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME in Amanda and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
The family would like contributions be made to the Pickering House in David's memory.
