Mr. Donald E. Switzer

Donald E. Switzer, 85, of Lancaster, passed away Monday, July 25, 2011 at Heartland-Fairfield. He was born November 7, 1925 in Baltimore, Ohio and was the son of the late Forrest and Dorothy (Swinehart) Switzer. Don was a 70 year member of Marcy Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a lifelong farmer in Fairfield County, former member of the Canal Winchester FFA Alumni Association and National Farmers Organization. He recently received an Honorary State FFA Degree from the Ohio FFA Association.
He is survived by his children, Allan Switzer and Carol (Richard) Zipf of Delaware; granddaughters, Hannah and Sarah Zipf; sisters, Miriam Loy and Phyllis Switzer both of Lancaster; niece, Denise (David) Piccirillo of Carroll and a cousin, Wayne Williams of Somerset. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Gloria Switzer; brother, Charles Switzer and his aunt and uncle with whom he lived for many years, Iva and Louis Breuggemeir.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at Marcy Trinity Lutheran Church, 9980 Marcy Rd., Ashville, Ohio 43103 with Rev. John Davoll officiating. Burial will be in Amanda Twp. Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME in Amanda and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
The family would like contributions be made to Marcy Trinity Lutheran Church or Ohio FFA Foundation in Don's memory.
