Elmer E. West, 80, of Lancaster was reunited with his wife Dorothy on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at OSU Hospital. He was born Feb. 23, 1934 in Bremen and was the son of the late Mack and Anna (Washbaugh) West. Elmer was a 1952 graduate of Bremen High School and as a member of the Bremen Oilers made All Ohio in football. He was fortunate enough to have met Woody Hayes and Hopalong Cassidy. He was a retired supervisor of Alten Foundry after 35 years of service and also retired from Premix. Elmer was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his children, Rebecca (Glenn) Pearce of Amanda, Barbara (Tim) Howard of Leesburg, Judy (Robert) Raver of Lancaster, Nita (David) Price of Amanda and Elmer Jason (Athena) West of Lancaster; grandchildren, Joanie (Randy) Stoneburner, Amy Bailes and friend Jim Norris, Doug (Ashley) Bailes, Jenny (Thad) Bowersock, Joey (Amber) Floyd, Robert Raver Jr., Amber Dawn Raver, Lacey (Billy) Pinkstock, Jacob Price, Kesley, Jeremiah, Dorothea, Kennedie, Cole and Sophia West; great grandchildren, Ashley and Riley Stoneburner, Tyler and Austin Smith, Kaden and Ariana Norris, Autumn Bailes, Maddie, Hayden and Lily Bowersock, Kylan and Karter Floyd, Bryce Raver, Laney, Tanner, Marlee and Titan Pinkstock and little Miss Keelie Raver who is expected to enter this world in the coming days; brother, Gary Lee (Betty) West of Pleasantville; sister, Florence (Johnny) Miller of Lancaster; sister-in-law, Flossie West of Pleasantville and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved and faithful companion Rocky. In addition to his parents and wife, Dorothy, he was preceded in death by brothers, Galen, Eugene and George West and sisters, Mary Woodgeard and Helen Dickson.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wedneday at the TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME in Amanda with Pastor Chris Hildenbrand officiating. Burial will follow in Amanda Twp. Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
