Mr. Jack D. Francis

Jack D. Francis, 75, of Amanda, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Fairfield Medical Center. He was born April 2, 1936 in Whisler and was the son of the late Ernest E. "Bill" and Edith (Congrove) Francis. Jack was a member of the Amanda United Methodist Church, 1954 graduate of Amanda High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Republic Waste as a heavy equipment mechanic.
He is survived by his children, Rhonda (Douglas) Leaman of Newark, Kimala Francis of Columbus, Katrina Francis of Arizona and Douglas Francis of Amanda; stepdaughters, Lisa Henderson and Tonya (Marty) McCoy both of Lancaster; seventeen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; brothers, Warren (Juanita) Francis of Lancaster, Bob Francis, Ernest E. "Bill" (Rita) Francis and John W. Francis all of Amanda; sisters, June (Hans) Wooster of Baltimore, Susan Elder of Lancaster, Mary Jill McFarland of Amanda and Linda Ann (Stanley) Huggins of Laurelville and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Francis and a sister, Barbara Kay Tyrolf.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at the TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME in Amanda with Rev. Tony Hudson officiating. Burial will be in Amanda Twp. Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions be made to Amanda U.M. Church or A-C FFA in Jack's memory.
