Orville L. Garrett, 83, of Amanda, passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2012 at Fairfield Medical Center. He was born April 27, 1929 in Pickaway County and was the son of the late Robert and Nellie (Reed) Garrett. Orville was a 1947 graduate of Stoutsville High School, volunteer fireman for Amanda Fire Dept. and former owner and operator of Garrett's Garage in Amanda.
He is survived by his children, Linda (James) McNally of Amanda, Sandra (Brad) Harden of Malta, Terry (Mary) Garrett and Ricky (Jeannie) Garrett both of Lancaster; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; two brothers, Vernon (Eileen) Garrett of Amanda, Don (Joyce) Garrett of Lancaster and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a close friend, Betty Thornton of Lancaster. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; granddaughter, Wendy Arehart and brothers, Robert, Gene and Whitey Garrett.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at the TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME in Amanda with Pastor Chris Hildenbrand officiating. Burial will be in Amanda Twp. Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions to FairHope hospice in Orville's memory.
