Paul F. Riegel, 92, of Amanda, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Crestview Manor Nursing Home. Paul was born September 4, 1919 in Amanda and was the son of the late Cirby Clay and Laura May (Aldenderfer) Riegel. He was a 1937 graduate of Walnut Twp. High School and a 1942 graduate of the Ohio State University where he played the trumpet for the marching band. After graduation he went home to farm on his family's land. Paul spent many years as a progressive dairy farmer in Fairfield County on Pride & Joy Farms. He was dedicated to his family, church, community and his farm life. He was past president of the Fairfield County Farm Bureau, former director of Clear Creek Valley Banking Co., member of Cedar Hill Calvary United Methodist Church, member of Farm Bureau Council #33 and a charter member and past president of the Amanda Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Ollie Mae (Helvering) Riegel whom he married on April 13, 1947; sons, Dean (Debbie) Riegel of Charleston, South Carolina and Jeff Riegel of Amanda; daughters, Sandra (Jon) Hackworth of Oldsmar, Florida, Lisa Fisher of Lancaster and Laurie Riegel of Galloway; grandchildren, Clay (Gail) Riegel, Sarah (Tony) Cruz, Jack Fisher, David and Patrick Hackworth, Christopher and Holly Riegel; great grandchildren, Joseph and Amanda Riegel, Cadence, Teagin and Jadelyn Cruz. He was preceded in death by brothers, Lawrence and Chester Riegel and sisters, Mary Kuhn and Iola Older.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. William Tolliver and Rev. Connie Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Amanda Twp. Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME in Amanda and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
