Mr. William Pearl McKenzie

William P. McKenzie, 80, of Amanda, passed away Friday, April 27, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his family. Bill was born June 17, 1931 in Lancaster and was the son of the late Henry James and Manda Judy (Skaggs) McKenzie. Bill was a member of the Royalton Community Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a machine gun Sergeant.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Phyllis (Wampler) McKenzie; son, Thomas (Peggy) McKenzie of Stoutsville; three daughters, Venus (Bill) Abram, Malinda (Mike) Miller and Summer (Rudy) Cox all of Amanda; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren; two sisters, Violet Riffle of Ashville and Bonnie Azbell of Lancaster. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers.
Bill was a good Christian man who was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a competitive man in everything he did and a mentor to his family.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Amanda United Methodist Church with Pastor Larry Horn officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service for fellowship and a meal at the church.

I am sorry for the loss of your husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. I know that the loss will be great here on earth; but the gain in heaven will be joyous! Praying for the family and friends that Bill can be remembered in our hearts and minds with great fondness and an assurance in knowing that he is with the Lord!
