Dorothy E. Wasem, 92, of Lancaster, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012, at Lan-Fair Center. She was born April 1, 1920, in Lancaster and was the daughter of the late Roy and Carrie (Pierce) Waites. Dorothy was a 1938 graduate of Amanda High School, member of Lancaster United Brethren Church and Olivedale where she participated in the Olivedale Kitchen Band, playing the washboard for 17 years. She was a former member of MZ Kreider Chapter of the Pythian Sisters and Order of Eastern Stars. She also was a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels of Fairfield County for over 29 years. She enjoyed cooking and making candy and cookies for her family and friends. Her happiest days were when all the family came home, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Bolsen and Shirley Wasem both of Lancaster; grandsons, Chad (Stacy) Davis of Pataskala, Todd (Laura) Bolsen of Atlanta and Kevin (Rebecca) Davis of Columbus; granddaughters, Noramah (Christopher Marshall) Burch of California, Carrie (Kason) Kimberley of Texas and Christie Bolsen of Chicago; great grandsons, Brandon Tipton, Parker and Alex Bolsen and Aiden Davis; sister-in-law, Mary Lehman of Lancaster and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Richard E. Wasem on September 30, 2011; daughter, Anita Davis; sisters, Marie Bresler and Evalene Warner and son-in-law, William Bolsen.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME in Amanda with Pastors Greg Voight and Henry Cadwell officiating. Friends may call from 1-3 & 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to either Meals on Wheels of Fairfield County or Lancaster United Brethren Church in Dorothy's memory.
The family would like to thank Dr. Abiden and the staff at Lan-Fair, especially driver Jeff Kelley, for their loving care and concern.
