Mrs. Norma Jean Schneider

November 30, 1926 — June 7, 2011

Norma Jean Sharp Schneider, 84 of Circleville, formerly of Oakland, passed away Tuesday June 7, 2011 at Pickaway Manor Nursing Home. She was born November 30, 1926 near Waverly to Walter E. and Clara Jenkins Osterle. She was a 1944 graduate of Kingston - Union High School. She worked as a bookkeeper and salesperson for Frankel's in Chillicothe and J.C. Penny in Circleville. Norma began a banking career at Third National Bank in Circleville and worked up to Assistant Cashier. She finished her working years at the Clear Creek Banking Co. in Stoutsville and Amanda. Norma later worked with her husband, Vernon Sharp at the Oakland Grocery until his retirement. She was active in her church family, helping with all activities, including playing the piano for services at the Oakland United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husbands, J. Vernon Sharp, John Robert Schneider and the father of her son, Phillip L. Payne; also preceding are a step daughter, Donna Jean Wise; and her beloved dogs, Ginger and Tigger.

She is survived by a son, Larry (Ann) Payne of Olympia, WA; nephew, William (Denise) Oesterle of Williamsport; three granddaughters; one grandson; three great grandchildren; a son in law, Jim Wise; sister in law, Mary Osterle; and several faithful friends including, Norma Martens and Martha Johnson. A special thanks to Pickaway Manor and Berger Hospice for their fine care.

A funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME in Amanda with Rev. John Glick officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Stoutsville. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m Friday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Pickaway Co. Humane Society, the Oakland United Methodist Church or Heidelberg United Church of Christ .
