Ottie Carolyn Harmon, 71, of Amanda, went home to be with the Lord on January 24, 2014 at the Pickering House. She was born September 24, 1942 in Sandyville, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Herbert and Dorothy (Hartley) Mills. Carolyn was a 1960 graduate of Laurelville High School and member of the Amanda United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Donald E. Harmon; daughter, Kimberly Welch (Jeff Stiles) of Mt. Sterling; three grandchildren whom she adored, Megan Caroline Welch (Darian Patterson) of Indianapolis, Joseph David Welch (Kat Lazar) of Washington D.C. and Brian Matthew Welch of Chillicothe; brothers, Kenneth Hartley of Circleville and Lonnie (Pat) Hartley of Nebraska; sisters, Martha Lee Mills of Circleville, Jo (Charles) Smith of Maryland and Carren (Ed) Julian of Amanda; special sisters-in-law, Helen Harmon, Linda Harmon and Cindy Wetzel all of Amanda, Roverta Underwood of Lancaster; Sharon Harmon and Leota "Shorty" Harmon both of Florida and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Albert and Ottie (Dawkins) Davis who raised her and was very influential in her life and a sister, Barbara Sue Morrison.
In honor of Carolyn's wished, no visitation will be observed. A grave side service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Amanda Twp. Cemetery with Pastor Terry Borah officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions to be made to the Pickering House, 282 Sells Rd., Lancaster, Ohio 43130 in Carolyn's memory.
