Orlando R. Gross

Orlando R. Gross, 94, of Amanda, formerly of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018 in Lancaster, Ohio.  He was born February 29, 1924 in Wheeling, WV and was the son of the late Alfonse and Verna (Reedy) Gross.
Orlando proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII.  After returning from the war he married Helen Nagy.  He worked for many years as a welder for Pullman Standard in Butler and after retiring learned the shoe repair business which he enjoyed until he retired at age 79.  Ollie has resided with his eldest son, Eric and his wife, Susan, for the past 15 years in Ohio.  
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Helen Gross.  He is survived by his sons, Eric (Susan) Gross of Amanda, OH and Wayne (Linda) Gross of Sacramento, CA; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren; brother, Cober (Barbara) Gross of Wheeling, WV.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Sunday, September 16, 2018 at the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda, OH.  Burial will be held at a later date at Greenlawn Burial Estates in Butler, PA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Salvation Army will be appreciated.
