Penny Bohn Spangler
December 18, 1942 - August 7, 2026
Penny Bohn Spangler, age 83, of Lancaster, passed away peacefully into eternal life on Friday, August 7, 2026. She was born December 18, 1942, in Logan, Ohio, to the late Ernest Bohn and Harriet (Woodrow) Harden.
A devoted homemaker, Penny's warmth and care created a welcoming home for her family, defined above all by her undeniable devotion to her son and grandchildren. During her years living in Amanda, Ohio, she was an active community member and faithful congregant at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Upon moving, she became an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Baltimore. Penny also gave generously of her time through TWIG 6. Together with her beloved husband, Dave, she cherished time spent with beautiful friends, traveling to car shows, and sharing in their love for street rods.
To know Penny was to experience someone truly one of a kind. She was a prayerful woman of deep faith and generous love, blending a compassionate heart with a delightfully feisty, witty, and spirited personality. Particular in her ways, nostalgic, and famous for her sweet tooth, Penny was above all an inquisitive listener whose open, caring presence always made those around her feel deeply seen and loved.
Throughout her journey, Penny's heart was held by those who faithfully surrounded her with their care, love, and physical presence. She is survived by her beloved son, Kyle Lama; her cherished grandchildren, Landen Lama and Lauren Lama; and her former daughter-in-law, Angela Lama.
Penny held deep gratitude for the steadfast devotion, care, and faithful presence of her niece, Amy (Ed) Sines; her great-nephews, Aaron (Emma, and son Cohen) Sines and Evan Sines; as well as her dear cousins who consistently brought joy and companionship to her journey: Daniel "Tim" (Debbie) Saunders, Anita (Wayne) Bowlby, Mindy (Joe) Wellman, and countless other family members.
She is further survived by her brother, Steve (Sandra) Wolfe; her nieces, Sarah (Brandon) Boone, Kaitlyn Wolfe, and Emma Wolfe; alongside extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was reunited in Heavenly peace with her beloved husband of 50 years, David A. Spangler.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, 111 W. Main St., Amanda, with Pastor Mark Barbee officiating. Interment will follow at Amanda Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
