Ronald F. Bates

Ronald F. Bates, age 87, of Amanda, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Pickerington Methodist Hospital. He was born on March 29, 1939, in Lancaster, to Frederick and Geneva (Kuntz) Bates. He was a graduate of Amanda High School, class of 1957. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Science from The Ohio State University. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

He is survived by two sons, Tom (Lisa) of Pickerington and Bill of Circleville; three daughters, Cathy (Gary) Metzger of Grove City, Linda (Cloyce) Hartley of Circleville and Lisa (Michael) Sacco of Clearwater, Florida; he was Grandpa and Papa to many dear grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, Denny (Mary Ann) Bates, of Cuyahoga Falls, OH. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol (McBroom) Bates; and his brother, Gary Bates.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, Amanda, with Chaplain Garrett Bates officiating. Interment will follow at Amanda Township Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
