Steven W. Gardner, passed away peacefully at Fairfield Medical Center on May 1, 2026, at the age of 77. Born in Lancaster, OH, on July 2, 1948, to Warren and Elsie (Barr) Gardner, Steve lived a life rich with love, adventure, and joy.
A proud graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School, Steve's journey took him through service in the Army during the Vietnam War, where he demonstrated bravery and dedication. He later became a Postal Clerk for the United States Postal Service at the Circleville Post Office, known for his friendly demeanor and commitment to his community. Additionally, Steve played an active role as a board member of the Green Mound Cemetery Board, honoring his family heritage and serving others.
Steve was an enthusiastic outdoorsman who cherished the time spent on his Kubota tractor, lovingly tending to his property. He found joy in playing cards, particularly in fiercely competitive games of Texas Hold'Em. His heart swelled with pride as he cheered on his grandchildren, attending their sporting events and organizing outdoor family games that created lasting memories.
A true and loyal fan of the Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes, Steve's spirited enthusiasm for his teams brought friends and family together, uniting them in celebration and camaraderie.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Linda (Welsh) Gardner; sons, Michael (Angela) Gardner and Eddie Gardner; step son, Tim Lunsford; step daughter, Tina Lunsford; grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Cindi (Keith) Burge and Linda Gardner; nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death parents; sister, Margaret "Peg" Gardner; grandson, Tyler Lunsford.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, 111 W. Main St., Amanda. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Green Mound Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Tunnels to Towers by visiting dogood.t2t.org or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
