Troy Matthew Daniels

Jul 3, 1977 — Aug 26, 2026

Troy Matthew Daniels, age 49, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, passed away on August 26, 2026, after a courageous fight for his life following an unexpected cardiac arrest.

There are some people who leave behind a hole so large that words fail to explain it. Troy Daniels was one of those people.

To know Troy was to know kindness in its purest form. He was patient, thoughtful, gentle, and selfless in ways that often went unnoticed because he never sought recognition. He quietly showed up. For everyone. Every time. He was the person who would give you the last piece of pizza, the better seat, the easier path, and somehow convince you it was what he wanted all along.

While Troy was naturally quiet, those lucky enough to break through his reserved exterior discovered one of the funniest people they would ever know. His humor wasn't loud or attention-seeking. It was perfectly timed, unexpectedly sharp, and capable of leaving an entire room in tears from laughter. Whether quoting Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Super Troopers, or another beloved movie, Troy could turn an ordinary moment into one his family would remember forever.

Troy was a man of many passions. He loved music deeply and without limits. Dave Matthews held a special place in his heart, but his playlists traveled effortlessly between oldies, alternative rock, and surprisingly current artists that somehow earned the approval of his daughters. His love of movies was equally broad. Marvel heroes, Disney classics, and countless repeated viewings of Big Hero 6 filled his home. He appreciated a good laugh but wasn't afraid of a movie that could make him cry, holding a special affection for Legends of the Fall.

He was creative and artistic, often organizing family drawing competitions and creative challenges with Jenny and the girls. He could sketch, imagine, and create with a depth that reflected the thoughtful soul he carried throughout his life.

Troy had many talents he rarely bragged about. He was surprisingly good at golf, poker, and bowling. He loved baseball in his younger years. Yet like so many things about Troy, his accomplishments were worn lightly. Humility came naturally to him.

He was devoted to his family.

Troy is survived by his loving parents, Wanda and Randy Rollins; his brothers, Kevin and Olivia Daniels and Christopher and Jessie Rollins; his daughters, Ellie and Gabby Daniels; his beloved partner, Jenny Lee; and Jenny's daughter, Annabelle Lee, whom Troy loved completely as his own. Troy was preceded in death by his biological father Steven Daniels.

Those 3 girls were the center of his world.

He rarely missed a practice, game, concert, recital, play, or special event. Somehow, despite impossible schedules and endless responsibilities, Troy found a way to be present. He spent much of his life making sure the people he loved felt supported, encouraged, and cherished. If there was a conflict, he would stretch himself further. If there was a need, he would show up. If there was love to give, he gave it freely.

Though Troy never quite understood Starbucks and couldn't comprehend how drinks could become so complicated and expensive, he still found himself there more often than many enthusiasts, simply because it made the girls in his life happy. In many ways, that perfectly summarizes who he was: someone who gladly stepped into things he didn't understand because someone he loved did.

Thankfully, Troy was also an animal lover because life with Jenny included what could only be described as a small zoo. He cared for every four-legged family member with the same tenderness he extended to everyone else.

Those who knew Troy also witnessed a love story that seemed almost too good to be true. Troy and Jenny shared a deep and obvious affection, the kind that made everyone around them smile and occasionally made their daughters roll their eyes and exclaim, "Ew!" as they stole another hug or kiss. Together, they had recently begun an exciting new chapter, moving into their dream home and building a future they could hardly wait to enjoy.

The suddenness of Troy's passing leaves behind questions that those who loved him may never fully understand. What remains undeniable, however, is the extraordinary impact of the life he lived. He loved fiercely. He gave generously. He cared deeply. He made people feel safe, important, and loved.

Even in death, Troy continued to give. As an organ donor he saved the lives of others and restored the gift of sight through donations, a final act of heroism that reflects exactly who he was. Troy spent his life putting others first. It is fitting that his last gift would be no different.

Troy was, quite simply, the best of us. The world is quieter without him, but it is immeasurably better because he was here.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Troy's life on Sunday, September, 6 2026, at Taylor-Theller Funeral Home, 111 W Main St, in Amanda Ohio, his hometown. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m., followed by a casual Celebration of Life service at 4:00 p.m.

In honor of Troy, those attending are encouraged to bring their favorite memory, wear fashionable footwear like Adidas, Troy's favorite, listen to some Dave Matthews on the drive home, hug the people they love a little tighter, and maybe stop at Starbucks for someone else's happiness.

Because that's exactly what Troy would have done.
