Weyland F. Bale

Weyland F. Bale, age 95, of Lancaster, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Fairfield Medical Center. He was born on October 20, 1921 in Galena, Ohio to the late Forrest and Florence (Ritchie) Bale.  Weyland was a US Army Air Force Veteran serving in WW II as an Aerial Gunner. He rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant with the 27th Bomb Squadron 30th Bomb Group. Weyland was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Air Medal, and Victory Medal of World War II. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, and the Tri-County Sportsman Club. He was an Accomplished Toastmaster, and loved trap and skeet shooting.  After retiring from North American Aviation and Accuray Industrial Nucleonics, he worked at Lowes in Lancaster for over 17 years.
     Weyland is survived by daughters, Karen Muck, Deborah Roark, and Pamela Christensen. He is also survived by grandchildren, Bryan (Laura) Muck, Amber (Kenny) Helwig, Kara (Chris) Murphy, Neil Link, James (Danielle) Jewell and Abbey Jewell; great grandchildren, Taylor, Cain, Brenton and Olivia Muck, Kenadi and Madison Williams, Brayden and Camden Helwig, Serenity and Willow Mae Murphy, Josie and Colin Jewell; great great grandson, Blake Sisler; and sister, Anna Lois Weber.
     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Leona Bale on December 1, 2015;  daughter, Bonnie Jewell Cunningham; grandson, Scotty Muck and sons-in-law Paul Muck and Tim Roark; sister Lillian Roof; and brother, Warren Bale.
     There will be a grave side funeral service at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Lancaster with Pastor Jim Green officiating.  Military honors will follow presented by AMVETS Post 2256.  In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions to the Taylor Funeral Home, PO Box 176, Amanda, OH 43102 to assist with funeral expenses.
