William âBillâ A. White, 85, formerly of Amanda, passed away peacefully at Arbors of Carroll on Saturday, July 29, 2017. He was born August 29, 1931 in Lockbourne, OH to the late John and Bertha (Hicks) White. Bill served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955, and later worked at the Ohio State Penitentiary until 1984, retiring as a captain after 28 years of service.
He is survived by his son, Johnny Duwayne White of Lancaster; daughter, Connie (Paul) Karl of Baltimore; daughter-in-law, Nancy White of Ashville; step-daughter, Cindy Evans of Lancaster; grandchildren, Tracy (Jamie) Hunt, Carla (Mike) Stacy, Jeremy White, Kelly Conner, Jesse (Becky) Hendershot, and Hunter White; 18 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren with one on the way; sisters, June Norman of Amanda, Joan Schumacher of Carroll, Evelyn (David) Miller of Circleville, and Gladys âIreneâ Vance of Columbus; special friends, Grover Powell and Forest (Janet) Short; numerous nieces, nephews and friends; fur babies, Sissy and Angel. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara and second wife, Barbara; son, William âTonyâ White; grandson, Shane White; great granddaughter, Emily Conner, brothers, John Hicks, Carl, James and Richard White; and step-daughter, Dreama Pierce.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda with Rev. Richard Smith, Jr. officiating. Entombment will follow at Franklin Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home. Bill loved fishing and feeding his birds.
